On Monday we said goodbye to our beautiful Emma, and our hearts are deeply heavy.

Since coming into our lives in 2015, Emma was loyalty and gentleness wrapped in strength. She stood faithfully beside Rick for years and later became my comfort and steady companion after I retired and lost Lily. In that season of grief, she quietly stepped closer and helped carry me forward with unconditional love. Emma lived fully. She flew on airplanes, traveled across the country in our car and RV, and journeyed between Las Vegas, Louisville, and Canada. She was calm, obedient, fearless when needed, and tender always. Home was wherever we were together.

Her illness came on quickly, and making the decision to let her go was the hardest and most selfless act of love we’ve ever faced. We are profoundly grateful to the compassionate team at Nevada Pet Hospice for helping her pass peacefully, surrounded by dignity and love. Their kindness gave us comfort in an unimaginable moment.

Our home feels quieter now, but her spirit is everywhere. We will forever be grateful for the years, the adventures, and the devotion she gave us.

Run free, sweet Emma.

Run with Rhea and precious Lily.

You will always be part of our hearts.

With love always,

Rick & Alice 🐾💛
